UCLA defensive-coordinator DeWayne Walker is leaving the Bruins for the head-coaching position at New Mexico State. Walker will become the seventh African-American coach in NCAA Div-I football. Walker tried out for the Bruins' coaching position after Karl Dorrell was fired, but lost to Rick Neuheisal. Walker did coach for the Bruins, however, in the Las Vegas Bowl, losing to BYU 17-16.
