Sources: Manny Held Out for $55 Million

Tony Jackson of the LA Daily News reports that, according to sources, talks with Manny Ramirez and agent Scott Boras broke apart because the two had a counter-offer of $55 million. The sources claim Boras had no objections to the Dodgers' salary-deferred offer. They also say the 2 year, $45 million contract is no longer on the table, the two sides are not discussing the form of payment on the contract, and negotiations have returned to square one. A $55 million contract would make Manny tied with Alex Rodriguez as the highest-paid men in baseball.
