Kings Trade for Smyth

The Los Angeles Kings acquired LW Ryan Smith in a trade with the Colorado Avalanche, sending Kyle Quincey, Tom Preissing and a fifth-round draft pick in the 2010 Draft in exchange. Smyth is one of the league's top scorers, scoring 26 goals and accumulating 33 assists last season. He has totaled 30 goals four different times. Quincey was a surprise last season after being claimed off waivers, getting 34 assists.

Kings Sign Scuderi

The Los Angeles Kings signed defender Rob Scuderi to a four-year contract. Scuderi is a veteran defender who spent his entire career up until now with the Pittsburgh Penguins. He had 164 blocked-shots last season to lead the team, and won the Stanley Cup just a month ago with the Penguins.

2009 NHL Draft: Kings Select Schenn

The Los Angeles Kings used their #5 pick in the 2009 NHL Draft to select Brayden Schenn, a center who played for Brandon of the Western Hockey League in Canada. Schenn was Rookie of the Year in 2008, and while initially being ranked the third top player in this year's draft, he fell to the fifth slot in later predictions. He won two gold medals with Canada in international hockey, one in the IIHF World U18 Championships, and another in the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament.

Robitaille Enters Hall

Luc Robitaille, legendary Kings left-wing, was voted into the NHL Hall of Fame today, along with Steve Yzerman, Brett Hull and Brian Leetch. Robitaille has more career goals than any other left-wing, and holds numerous Los Angeles franchise records. He was with the Detroit Red Wings in 2002 when they won the Stanley Cup, and also played with the Pittsburgh Penguins and the New York Rangers. Robitaille totaled 668 goals and 1,394 points in his career.

Kings Finish Season on Right Foot

The Los Angeles Kings defeated the San Jose Sharks 4-3, their final game of the NHL season. The Kings scored in each period, including twice in the first. Wayne Simmonds scored a goal and had an assist for the Kings, and Davis Drewiske had two assists. Alexander Frolov, Michal Handzus, and Peter Harrold each scored for LA, and Jonathan Quick made 27 saves. The Sharks scored each goal on a power-play, with Devin Setoguchi, Joe Pavelski, and Patrick Marleau each scoring once.

The Los Angeles Clippers defeated the Sacramento Kings 109-78, snapping a six-game losing streak. LA could not be stopped after finishing the first quarter leading 35-13. The Clippers shot 56% from the field while Sacramento shot .326. The Clips also out-assisted the Kings 26-14 and blocked 9 of their shots. Brain Skinner led LA with 21 points to go with 10 rebounds and 3 blocked shots. Eric Gordon had 20 points, and Chris Kaman had a double-double off the bench with 14 points and 13 rebounds. Baron Davis added 16 points. Beno Udrih led the Kings with 18 points.

Canucks Send Kings Rolling

The Los Angeles Kings fell to the Vancouver Canucks 1-0. Robert Luongo made 20 saves to get his 8th shutout of the season for Vancouver. Ryan Kesler scored the only goal of the game. Jonathan Quick made 27 saves on 28 shots.

The Los Angeles Kings fell to the Calgary Flames 4-1, a loss that puts Calgary in first place in the Northwest. Wayne Simmonds scored LA's only goal as Erik Ersberg made 34 saves on 38 shots. Jarome Iginla had a goal and assist for the Flames, and Daymond Langkow, Jim Vandermeer, and David Moss each scored a goal. Mikka Kiprusoff saved 23 shots for Calgary.

Ed Jovanovski and Scottie Upshal both scored in the third period for Phoenix, and their goalie Al Montoya made 31 saves. LA had a one-goal lead entering the third period, but Jonathan Quick could only make 30 saves on 32 shots. Derek Armstrong scored the Kings' lone goal.

The Los Angeles Kings fell to the Dallas Stars 3-2, a loss that snapped Dallas's 7-game losing streak. The loss takes another toll on the already low-standing Kings, keeping them 11 points out of the playoffs. Brendan Morrison scored two power-play goals for Dallas, and Marty Turco had 26 saves. Jack Johnson and Anze Kopitar both scored for LA.

Both teams were scoreless entering the third period, but St. Louis scored two goals, each from Patrik Berglund. Jonathan Quick made 21 saves for LA, while counterpart Chris Mason had his fifth shutout of the season with 22 saves. The Kings are just 2-9-1 in their last dozen games.

Ryan Jones scored the go-ahead goal for Nashville with 2:18 left in the third period. Steve Sullivan had a goal in the second to put the Predators up 3-2, but Michal Handzus scored in the third to tie the game. Anze Kopitar also had a goal for LA. Erik Ersberg made 26 saves on 30 shots.
