The Los Angeles Kings defeated the Florida Panthers 3-2, scoring two goals in the first period. Florida has only 9 points in the standings, while the Kings have 10. Three different players scored a goal for LA: Brian Boyle, Tom Preissing, and Dustin Brown. The Kings play the St. Louis Blues next, who they previously defeated as part of the "curse of Sarah Palin."

Denver Clips LA's Hopes in Overtime

Baron and the Clippers couldn't pull out any magic going into the fifth quarter, losing to the Denver Nuggets 113-103. Not only did the OT loss sting, it also led to team captain Baron Davis being injured. LA had a 72-55 lead late in the third, but lost most of it to a Denver 13-3 run. The Clips had a two point lead with 10 seconds left in regulation, which disappeared in a flash with two Linus Kleiza free-throws. Marcus Camby still is waiting for his debut, hoping it can be Monday's game against the Utah Jazz.

Gentlemen, Start Your Bidding

Now that the Phillies have triumphed in the World Series, free agency begins today. Several key players for the Dodgers will be free to choose a new team: Manny Ramirez, Derek Lowe, Casey Blake, and Rafael Furcal. A two week grace period starts the offseason in which players can only make deals with the teams they are leaving. After that, everyone's up for grabs. Don't expect the Dodgers to make big moves during this period, as most of the players mentioned want to test the market. Stay with this blog to get all offseason info on the Dodger dealings.

LA vs. LA, Who Will Win?

The Lakers and the Clippers did battle yesterday, or it was more like the Lakers did battle while the Clippers hid under their seats. Kobe and co. beat the Baron of LA 117-79. The aforementioned Mr. Bryant scored 16 points with 8 rebounds, and Andrew Bynum contributed with 12 points. 7 guys scored double digits, including Farmar, Ariza, and Chris Mihm off of the bench. The Clippers opener seemed to be a good game after the first quarter, with the Laker lead only at 3. However, that was as close as they could get. Baron Davis had 11 points and 7 assists in his Clipper debut, and Al Thornton had 16. The Clips look to rebound against Denver, who coincidentally will play the Lakers the next day.

Kobe and the guys got things done on both sides of the ball, with a superb offense and strong defense. Bynum was impressive in his first real game since being injured, with 8 points, 5 blocked shots, and 3 rebounds. Jordan Farmar stood out, scoring 9 points with 6 assists. Tonight, they take on LA's other team, the Clippers.
